When an egret followed our car. It seemed to be looking for a friend, we're not sure. Perhaps he thought our Renault was its mother? The lonely egret topped off a day of somewhat unusual sightings at the Addo Elephant Park
Hi Steve, forgive your mother's ignorance - but what is a caracal? I liked the photograph of the
Buffalo bull in the trees - the detail was wonderful. Entertaining story about the Egret - would
have been quite scary if he was of the cat family !!
Hi Rosie - thank-you for your encouragement, I appreciate it.
I wish I had been able to take a picture of the caracal. I did have a (not very good) one that I took years ago.
In Afrikaans the caracal is called a rooikat. It is sort of halfway in size between a leopard and a house cat. It has little tufts on its ears.
I enjoy your chatty post about the animals you see.
I wonder why that egret adopted you.
Thank-you for your kind words. I am hoping that the more conversational approach is enjoyable to read.
I have absolutely no idea why the egret followed us. It has never happened before. It was fun and amusing but I also felt a little bad for the fella.
